Suspect Wanted For Terroristic Threats Against New Jersey Governor Apprehended In Wayne County

A New Jersey man accused of making terroristic threats against the state’s governor was apprehended in Wayne County on Friday, authorities said.

According to a news statement from the West Virginia State Police, Russ Semeran, 54, of Dumont, New Jersey, has active fugitive warrants out for his arrest in New Jersey for allegedly making terroristic threats against New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.

Troopers stated they had received information from New Jersey State Police about Semeran and his warrants, which indicated that he could be in Wayne County.

According to troopers, Semeran was tracked to a place near Beech Fork State Park before being escorted to the Holy Cross Monastery in Wayne. According to troopers, Semeran was hauled into prison without incident.

According to a press statement issued by the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness in July, Semeran was previously detained in Florida for the same reason, after reportedly posting photographs of firearms on social media and tagging local police officials.

Following his capture in Wayne County, Semeran was charged with evading the justice system. He is now being imprisoned at the Western Regional Jail, awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
