Ah’Jhzae Diamondric Artag Berry, 30, of St. Petersburg, was sentenced to five years and five months in federal prison for his role in a widespread mail theft and bank fraud scheme that targeted hundreds of victims and carried an intended loss of more than $380,000.
U.S. District Judge Charlene E. Honeywell issued the sentence after Berry pleaded guilty on June 4, 2025.
According to court records, the scheme operated from January through June 2024. Berry and several accomplices repeatedly broke into U.S. Postal Service mail receptacles—often at night—using a stolen USPS key. After stealing the mail, the group opened letters and packages to collect debit and credit cards, gift cards, checks, and other valuable items. Investigators also confirmed that Berry stole election ballots during the operation.
The conspirators altered the stolen checks by changing the intended payees and then deposited them at federally insured financial institutions.
The court determined that the group’s actions affected hundreds of individuals, with the total intended loss surpassing $380,000.
