Snapchat Investigation Leads to Arrest of Florida Man in Graphic Animal Abuse

A joint investigation by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) and the Southwest Florida INTERCEPT Task Force led to the arrest of a former Naples man on nearly two dozen charges tied to the sexual exploitation of animals.

Authorities arrested 30-year-old Emmanuel Mireles-Garza on Friday in Lee County. He faces 21 counts of Animal Cruelty/Possession of Images or Video of Animal Sex Activity.

The case began after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children submitted a cybertip about a file containing child sexual abuse material shared on Snapchat.

While investigating that report, detectives uncovered disturbing communications from another user. According to investigators, the messages involved the solicitation of minors, requests for videos of children, and graphic, self-produced footage showing sexual acts with a family dog.

Detectives used subpoenas and search warrants to identify Mireles-Garza as the suspect. They located him in Lee County, where he was reportedly in the process of moving, and arrested him on a Collier County warrant. Investigators also seized his cellphone as evidence.

Sheriff Kevin Rambosk praised the quick coordination between the task force, the State Attorney’s Office, and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

“This is an incredibly disturbing case,” Sheriff Rambosk said. “Together they ensured that this individual was safely and expeditiously taken into custody.”

Mireles-Garza remains in the Lee County jail as he awaits extradition to Collier County. The investigation is still ongoing.
