The search is ongoing for a woman who went missing during a hike in the Colfax area on Friday.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office said the search started shortly before 6 p.m. Friday near the Codfish Falls Trail after deputies received a report of a possibly missing woman.
According to deputies, the woman was last seen walking along the trail with her dog. Later, the dog was spotted alone.
During Friday night’s search, deputies found the woman’s vehicle nearby. Her phone and a dog bowl were also discovered along the river.
The dog has since been found and is safe.
Deputies said boats were deployed on the water Sunday, but the woman has not yet been located. As of Sunday, officials said there was no evidence suggesting anything other than an accidental incident. The sheriff’s office added that all possibilities remain under review.
Cal Fire, Auburn State Recreation Area, and Cal OES are assisting with the search efforts.
