Scooter Rider Killed in Panorama City Hit-and-Run, LAPD Calls for Public’s Help

A hit-and-run in Panorama City late Sunday night claimed the life of a man in his 30s who was riding his scooter. Police reported that the man died at the scene after being struck near Strathern Street and Woodman Avenue. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said they received calls about the crash at 9:37 p.m.

The LAPD explained, “Both the vehicle and the scooter were traveling northbound on Woodman when the driver struck the person on the scooter, fleeing the scene without rendering medical aid.” Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived quickly but pronounced the rider dead at the site. Nearby, officers found the victim’s belongings—including a backpack—next to a white tent marking the tragic scene. CBS Los Angeles showed officers carefully searching the area for evidence.

Officials later corrected the initial reporting time, confirming the collision actually occurred on September 28, 2025, around 9:35 p.m., not the 29th. Investigators identified the first striking vehicle as a gray Honda sedan, which threw the rider from his scooter. A second vehicle hit the victim afterward, but that driver is cooperating with police. Authorities described the victim as a Hispanic man in his early 30s. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office is withholding his name until they notify his family.

Police urged the public to come forward, reminding drivers that the law requires them to stop and provide information after a crash. To encourage tips, the City Council’s Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund is offering up to $50,000 for information that helps identify, arrest, and convict the offender—or resolve the case through a civil compromise.
