Salem Woman Apprehended On Drug Trafficking Charge Now Facing Additional Charges

A Dent County woman apprehended last week for overdosing at home last month is now facing additional drug charges.

Cooper County deputies were called to Roni Smith’s, 42, Salem house in mid-August to investigate an unresponsive woman. When officials arrived, they gave Smith Narcan, and he regained consciousness.

Deputies returned to her home last Friday and seized almost 30 grams of methamphetamine. She has been charged with second-degree drug trafficking.

Smith was also charged with second-degree drug trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia in a separate instance on Friday. According to court filings, the charges are for 0.5 grams of fentanyl seized at Smith’s residence, as well as nine grams of methamphetamine and a variety of drug paraphernalia.
