A stabbing in downtown Sacramento’s K Street tunnel early Sunday left one man hospitalized and another in custody.
Police responded around 12:45 a.m., finding a man suffering from at least one stab wound. Officers provided emergency aid before the victim was taken to the hospital, where doctors later confirmed he was in stable condition, according to KCRA.
Detectives detained 21-year-old Laverne Parker of Sacramento at the scene. After an on-scene investigation, they arrested him on suspicion of felony assault.
“Parker remains in custody as of Sunday night and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 16,” KCRA reported, citing Sacramento County Jail records.
Investigators have not released details about what led to the stabbing, the motive, or whether Parker and the victim knew each other.
The victim’s name and residence remain undisclosed. Public Information Officer Anthony Gamble told Public Safety News it is unclear if Parker or the victim attended a nearby concert before the incident.
Authorities confirmed Parker was taken into custody inside the K Street tunnel, which connects Old Sacramento to the Downtown Commons.
