Roseville Motorcyclist Dies in Collision Following High-Speed Police Chase in Citrus Heights

A high-speed police chase in Citrus Heights ended in tragedy late Monday night when a motorcyclist collided with a car and was killed.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 28-year-old Devin James Newton of Roseville. The pursuit, which began over vehicle code violations, came to a deadly end at the intersection of Antelope Road and Mariposa Avenue.

According to  ABC10, the chase began around 8:20 p.m. after Newton allegedly refused to yield when an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Antelope Road and Wonder Street. Newton reportedly ran red lights, blew through stop signs, and even switched off his headlights as the pursuit intensified.

A Sacramento Police Department helicopter tracked Newton from the air, relaying updates to officers on the ground, Hoodline reported. Despite coordination between air and ground units, the chase ended in a violent collision.

The crash’s impact threw Newton from his motorcycle. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car’s driver escaped without injury. The Citrus Heights Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the chase and fatal crash.
