Reckless Driver Detained After Racing at 100 mph in 45-mph Zone on West Sam Houston Parkway North

Speeding through the suburbs, a driver tested the limits of both his vehicle and the law, eventually resulting to his arrest following a daring display of reckless driving on West Sam Houston Parkway North. According to a statement acquired by Constable Mark Herman’s Office, on October 10, deputies observed Jair Mendoza speeding down the road at 100 mph in an area plainly posted with a 45-mph speed limit while driving erratically. They didn’t spend any time in stopping this dangerous journey.

The deputies’ quick response included initiating a traffic stop, which brought Mendoza’s high-speed escapade to a halt. During his detention, he was identified and is now facing the consequences for his traffic violation. Despite the potential dangers of such high-speed antics, the arrest went smoothly: “Jair Mendoza was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for Reckless Driving without incident,” Constable Mark Herman shared on Facebook, with his bond set at $100.00 out of County Court 11.

Following the event, the Constable’s office issued an appeal to the community to be aware and engaged about local criminal activity by following their web channels. They have launched a mobile app called “C4 NOW,” which extends their reach directly to people’s devices by providing real-time information on crimes, arrests, and public safety updates, ensuring that residents can easily access up-to-date reports of road conditions in their area—emphasizing their ongoing commitment to not allowing such reckless driving incidents to slip through the cracks of the system.
