A 33-year-old Anderson man was taken into custody on ten felony charges Tuesday following an investigation by the Hamilton County Metro Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, according to officials.
According to the task force, detectives identified the defendant, Anthony Carmack, after receiving many CyberTips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. According to investigators, Carmack allegedly utilized many social media identities to distribute and possess child sexual assault material.
A search warrant issued at Carmack’s Anderson home turned up even more digital evidence, according to authorities. Carmack, a registered sex offender, was accused by detectives of engaging in explicit online talks with kids and possessing materials related to child sexual abuse and animals.
Carmack was charged with one case of child exploitation, numerous counts of possession and transmission of child sexual abuse material, vicarious sexual enjoyment, inappropriate communication with a minor, and failure to report, all of which are felonies. He is being held in the Madison County Jail.
According to investigators, Carmack denied having physical contact with minors but acknowledged to having indecent “thoughts” about local children.
The Hamilton County Metro ICAC Task Force is comprised of multiple agencies, including the Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville, and Westfield Police Departments, as well as the Madison and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Offices.
