A 26-year-old Pennsylvania man is facing several felony charges after authorities rescued a 13-year-old Louisiana girl from a makeshift prison in his basement, where she was allegedly kept inside a box and repeatedly sexually assaulted.
According to police, the suspect, Ki-Shawn Crumity, met the girl on Snapchat and persuaded her to travel more than 1,000 miles from her home by falsely claiming he would help her get adopted by a “trusted adult.” Her journey reportedly took her through Georgia and Washington, D.C., before she arrived in Pittsburgh with an adult woman.
On October 30, 2025, U.S. Marshals notified Pittsburgh police, leading a SWAT team to execute a federal search warrant at a residence in the Brighton Heights neighborhood. Investigators discovered the girl hidden in the basement, confined inside a box covered with a sheet.
The victim, who had been reported missing the week before, told authorities that Crumity provided her with alcohol and marijuana edibles and sexually assaulted her multiple times daily during her captivity.
