Parents of Missing 7-Month-Old in California Arrested for Murder

Authorities in California have arrested Jake and Rebecca Haro, the parents of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro, for murder. The infant went missing on Aug. 14 after Rebecca Haro claimed she was attacked outside a retail store on Yucaipa Boulevard while changing her son’s diaper. She said she was rendered unconscious, and when she awoke, the child was gone.

San Bernardino County deputies found inconsistencies in Rebecca’s account and could not rule out foul play. Investigators deployed scent-tracking dogs, conducted extensive searches in Yucaipa and Cabazon, reviewed surveillance footage, and executed search warrants at the Haro residence. The father’s vehicle was also seized for evidence.

Jake Haro previously pleaded guilty to willful cruelty to a child in 2018. Both parents were taken into custody at their Cabazon home on Aug. 22. Authorities continue searching for Emmanuel.

A sheriff’s spokesperson confirmed that law enforcement will keep pursuing the investigation, but no further details about the arrests have been released.
