A judge sentenced two defendants to jail for beating a teen worker unconscious at a Cordova restaurant in July 2023, according to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office.
Darius Brantley received a three-year sentence, while Kaitlin Brantley received three years in addition to a consecutive sentence for a separate assault incident at a McDonald’s while on probation.
The couple was joined by two additional members of their family. Carol and Brittany Brantley were both arrested and charged with aggravated assault in 2023.
Latisha Ford, the teen’s mother, told WREG that her son, a host at Cheddar’s, was attacked by a huge group of people who had to be seated at two separate tables, and they took it out on him.
Omarion Ford, the teenager who was attacked, claimed it was a busy Sunday and that he was requested to seat an eight-person party. He stated that he told the family they would have to wait an hour for a large table, and they agreed to be placed at two tables.
The Bolton High School student stated that one of the group’s female members did not like the tables, so they returned outdoors. He stated that the issue began after he finally seated everyone at the same enormous table.
“The girl in the green said why did it take so long to seat me? You could have sat us down,” said Ford. “I said, what’s the problem? Why are you angry? I got you all the table. Why are you all still mad?”
Omarion said the woman continued to complain as he headed back to his host stand. He claimed that is when the woman’s boyfriend approached him and started striking him.
“He got in my face and said, ‘What did you say to my girl?’” Omarion said. “After he punched me in my face, that’s when I fell back into the fence, and when I hit back, the whole family started jumping me. That’s when I blacked out.”
The teenager stated that the next thing he remembers is waking up in an ambulance. A video circulating on social media depicts the turmoil that followed the attack and Omarion’s coworkers attempting to keep him awake.
According to investigators, Omarion struck his head on a brick wall inside the restaurant during the incident and was sent to the hospital with a concussion, bruises, facial abrasions, a black eye, and a bruised lung.
In March of this year, a McDonald’s manager stated that she defended herself after Kaitlin Brantley attacked her after receiving the incorrect order.
When police allege Kaitlin Brantley violently assaulted Tiffany Sherrod at Cheddar’s in 2023, she was out on bond at the time.
According to Sherrod, Brantley was a passenger in a vehicle that passed through the drive-thru on February 7. She claimed Brantley was unhappy because she received the incorrect order.
Sherrod claims she tried to inform Brantley she was the manager and would fix the order, but Brantley went on a tirade.
“She told me she was going to beat my a–,” said Sherrod.
Sherrod hit Brantley with a coffee pot, according to video footage captured in the store.
Brantley was charged with assault and vandalism, and her bond in the Cheddar case was revoked a week prior to the incident when Sherrod addressed the court.
