Oregon Weather Alert: Heavy Rain, Strong Winds, And High Surf Expected This Week

A series of Pacific storm systems are expected to hit southern Oregon this week, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and dangerous surf conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Medford.

The first wave of active weather hits late Monday, November 3, with heavier systems arriving Tuesday through Friday. According to meteorologists, the most intense front will pass through between late Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing moderate to heavy rainfall and strong southerly winds throughout the coast, Shasta Valley, and east of the Cascades.

The weather forecast predicts that snow levels will remain high, well above mountain passes, implying that the majority of precipitation will fall as rain. We are cautioning coastal residents about strong surf and dangerous beach conditions, especially during the King Tides, expected to peak midweek.

A third system approaches Thursday and Friday, possibly bringing more rain and strong gusts before conditions gradually improve by the weekend. NWS Medford warned that king tides, paired with heavy surf, might cause coastal flooding and hazardous waves.

Travelers and homeowners in southwest Oregon are advised to remain vigilant for shifting conditions and potential weather advisories throughout the week.
