A teenager died Thursday after his off-road vehicle crashed with a Jeep on State Road 120, according to the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office.
According to investigators, the crash occurred at 11:30 a.m., when the UTV attempted to cross the road at a 90-degree angle. The Jeep driver, a man from Michigan, told authorities he couldn’t avoid hitting the car.
The authorities pronounced the 13-year-old boy operating the UTV deceased at the scene. A 6-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle and airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital in severe condition with internal injuries. The Jeep driver was not wounded.
The incident is still under investigation.
