Authorities are intensifying the search for an Owendale man who went missing earlier this week, with a massive search operation planned to begin Saturday morning.
Raymond J. Babbitt, 36, was reported missing Tuesday afternoon. He was last spotted on Monday morning, according to a downtown Owendale business surveillance video.
Christian Aid Ministries Search and Rescue Group of Ohio will spearhead the search, with 20 to 30 people expected to arrive in the region.
They will provide equipment, transportation, and command trailers to help in the search.
The Huron County Sheriff’s Office, along with local firemen, will assist with the operation.
This is the ninth group to help with the search, including the Michigan State Police, City of Warren Police, Owendale Fire, Huron County Road Commission, Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, and Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities now assume the missing individual was picked up and transported out of the region voluntarily.
Despite this theory, the search will continue unless fresh information prompts a shift in strategy.
Anyone with information on the missing man’s whereabouts is asked to call Huron Central Dispatch at 989-269-6421.
