North Dakota Man Charged With Threatening to Kill President Trump and Federal Officials

A 47-year-old North Dakota man, identified as Andrew Walter Sandvik, has been charged with making threats to kill former President Donald Trump and other high-ranking federal officials, according to a federal criminal affidavit filed by FBI Special Agent Sarah L. Thaden.

Sandvik was arrested following an investigation that began in early September after authorities discovered a series of violent online posts threatening the president, law enforcement, and the military.

The investigation began on September 4, 2025, when Fargo Police Detective Josh Heller alerted the FBI to “concerning online posts regarding violence” targeting Trump and law enforcement. The threats were reportedly posted on Facebook and a personal website linked to Sandvik.

One of the posts read, “Trump, can you feel my footsteps coming? Death is now marching towards the failed and weak Donald Trump!” Another stated, “Trump’s Blood Judgement Is Here! You will soon find yourself without insides as they will be pulled from your body while your limbs are ripped out of their sockets.”

The threats extended beyond Trump, allegedly targeting FBI Director Kash Patel and other officials. One message read, “Patel, I’M WAITING FOR YOU,” while another challenged federal agencies, saying, “Secret Service, FBI, CIA — come get me!”

In a statement, FBI Minneapolis Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. Winston, Sr., confirmed the arrest:

“Thursday morning, the FBI, along with our federal, state, and local partners, arrested Andrew Walter Sandvik on charges related to threats made against federal officials. As alleged in the complaint, Sandvik made threats against President Donald J. Trump, FBI Director Kash Patel, local law enforcement officers, and the U.S. military.”

According to the affidavit, Sandvik also warned federal agents and service members, posting, “Law enforcement, U.S. Military, and National Guard STAY HOME! … You will die an angel’s death if you attempt to protect Donald Trump.”

Investigators identified Sandvik through a witness who knew him personally. When officers visited his camper residence on September 17, they observed cinder blocks and bottles containing liquid. Authorities also reported that Sandvik had painted Airsoft guns black to make them appear realistic.

The case remains under investigation by the FBI, U.S. Secret Service, North Dakota Bureau of Investigation, and the Fargo Police Department.
It is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of North Dakota, led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard Lee.
