A Muroc Joint Unified School District employee and his wife were arrested on allegations of child abuse involving three children under the age of 14, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) reported.
On October 14, 2025, deputies from the Mojave/Boron substation responded to a report of potential child abuse in the North Edwards area. The investigation identified three juvenile victims under 14 years old.
The accused were identified as 38-year-old Matthew James, a school district employee, and his 35-year-old wife, Brittany James. The children were placed into CPS protective custody.
