Authorities in Broward County are ramping up efforts to find 10-year-old Gabrielle Terrelonge after her mother was arrested on child neglect charges earlier this week.
Police say 34-year-old Passha Davis was taken into custody Tuesday at the Lauderhill Transit Station after investigators discovered Gabrielle had not been seen for several months.
“Alright, Ms. Davis, you’re charged with one count of neglect of a child without great bodily harm,” a judge said during bond court. The judge then questioned, “I understand that allegedly she doesn’t know where her child is?” Davis’s attorney responded, “Your honor, what’s understood is that she hasn’t said anything. It’s not known if that’s actually accurate. She hasn’t given any information about the last time she saw the child.”
Last Seen Months Ago in Hollywood
According to investigators, Davis and her daughter were last spotted together in June at a Walmart in Hollywood off State Road 7. Gabrielle’s disappearance went unreported until October 29, when her father contacted Margate police.
The arrest report states Davis told officers she believed Gabrielle was with her father, but he told investigators he hasn’t seen his daughter since May.
Shoplifting Arrest Sparked Investigation
The investigation began after Davis was arrested on October 17 for shoplifting from a Margate Dollar Store. When Gabrielle’s father learned of the arrest, he reported his daughter missing—prompting the FBI and multiple local law enforcement agencies to join the search.
Homelessness and Mental Health Concerns
Investigators noted that Davis is homeless and struggles with mental health and substance abuse issues. Family members told authorities that no one has seen or heard from Davis or Gabrielle since December 2024.
Bond and Ongoing Search
Davis’s bond was set at $100,000. If released, she must wear an ankle monitor and undergo a mental health evaluation.
Authorities continue to search for Gabrielle Terrelonge and are urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact law enforcement immediately.
