Missouri Woman Allegedly Delivers Cooler With Fetus to Former Lover

Makayla Haedt, 29, of Missouri, was arrested last month after allegedly delivering a cooler containing a human fetus to the home of a former romantic partner, telling him, “here’s your kid.”

The former lover described the act to police as a “cruel f—–d up joke,” leading to Haedt’s arrest on September 18, 2025, on charges of Harassment in the First Degree, according to an affidavit from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Kobi Gasek responded to a residence on Laddie Lane in Waynesville at around 2:48 a.m. on September 18 after reports of a deceased fetus in a cooler.

The victim told deputies that he and Haedt had an on-again, off-again romantic “fling” over the years, but he had come to view her as a “habitual liar.” He said he didn’t believe her a month or two prior when she claimed to be pregnant.

On September 17, Haedt allegedly messaged the man saying she had a miscarriage. Later that evening, after running errands together, Haedt reportedly threw what appeared to be a Walmart bag containing clothes into a fire at his home.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Haedt allegedly handed him a red-and-white cooler sealed with green tape, stating, “here’s your kid,” before driving away. The victim said Haedt “didn’t show any sign of remorse or anything when she said it.”

Believing it was a “cruel f—–d up joke” and thinking the cooler contained drinks, the man placed it on the ground and sat next to it for over an hour, hesitant to open it. After consulting family and friends, a friend helped him open the cooler. Upon seeing the fetus, he closed it immediately and contacted the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Gasek verified the contents and observed what appeared to be a human fetus. Detectives and the Coroner were notified, and the Coroner took possession for transport to a medical facility.

The affidavit notes the victim appeared emotionally distressed, often staring at the ground and saying things like, “this is the type of thing you see on the internet all the time, but don’t ever think it will happen to you.”

The Sheriff’s Office affidavit states that Haedt committed Harassment in the First Degree by “without good cause, giving the victim the cooler containing a deceased fetus, stating ‘here’s your kid,’ causing him emotional distress.”

Haedt’s arrest on September 18, 2025, also cited her failure to appear for a previous court date, raising concerns she might not appear for the current case.
