Authorities say three Miami men allegedly turned a neighborhood retail plaza into a hub for distributing deadly drugs, including fentanyl and heroin, using a restaurant and nearby businesses to cover their trafficking operation.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Thursday that Antwan Bailey, 45; Eddie Gene Worthy Jr., 52; and Willie Weatherspoon, 52 face multiple drug trafficking and firearms charges following a sweeping investigation led by the FBI Miami Field Office.
Court documents indicate the men used the plaza’s shared parking lot to conduct quick drug exchanges, distributing over 400 grams of fentanyl, 30 grams of heroin, and other narcotics. Worthy also faces a charge for possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, while Bailey is charged with possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.
If convicted, all three men could face life in prison, the DOJ said.
The charges were announced by U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones, Acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew R. Galeotti, and FBI Special Agent in Charge Brett D. Skiles. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and City of Miami Police Department assisted with the investigation.
