Memphis law enforcement delivered a major strike against drug trafficking with a large methamphetamine bust. According to a social media post by the West Tennessee Drug Task Force, the Thursday evening operation led to arrests and the seizure of a massive meth stash, advancing the state’s violence prevention initiatives.
According to the West Tennessee Drug Task Force, this operation was part of the Governor’s Violent Crime Intervention Funding (VCIF) Zip Code Grant, designed to directly reduce violent crimes in Tennessee’s most high-risk areas. Officers confiscated 118 pounds (53 kilos) of meth from the 38131 zip code, a neighborhood often highlighted in Memphis crime statistics. “Meth is a killer, and amounts of that size mean significant drug trafficking,” District Attorney Steve Mulroy said, emphasizing the seriousness of the seizure.
The bust highlights the ongoing fight against the flow and distribution of dangerous narcotics in the region. Drug Task Force Director Johnie Carter pointed to the rising number of seizures, stating, “The Drug Task Force continues to see larger than average seizures of dangerous drugs flowing into and through the mid south in 2025 and my Agents are working long hard hours at making west Tennessee a safer place for all. I can’t sing their praises enough.”
Although this remains an active case with limited information released, its prosecution by the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office shows how seriously authorities take drug-related crimes. A strong, coordinated effort is expected to move forward to target and dismantle the networks driving these illegal operations.
