Man Taken Into Custody For Stabbing 16-year-old Boy In Long Beach

A 16-year-old boy was stabbed in Long Beach, and a suspect was arrested, authorities said Monday.

The Long Beach Police Department said that the attack occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday in the 100 block of Pacific Avenue.

Police discovered the teen with multiple upper-body stab wounds that were not life-threatening. Paramedics took him to the hospital.

“Officers quickly located the male adult suspect as he attempted to flee the scene,” according to a police statement. “While being arrested, the suspect assaulted an officer, who did not sustain any injuries.”

Police identified the suspect as Christopher Ivan Gonzalez, 34. He was arrested on allegations of attempted murder, resisting arrest, resisting an officer using force or violence, and disorderly behavior. The bail was set at $1 million.
