A North Carolina man allegedly fired a shotgun at an Amazon delivery driver who accidentally pulled into his driveway.
Sidney Pittman, 23, is out on bond after being charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied property and injury to personal property. Authorities say the incident occurred on Dec. 14 around 9:30 p.m. when Tashika Trimble, a seasonal Amazon driver, and her 16-year-old son pulled into Pittman’s driveway by mistake in Ellerbe, N.C.
According to reports, Pittman answered the door and told Trimble she was at the wrong address. As she backed out to leave, Pittman allegedly fired at her car. Trimble later described the frightening moment at a rally with local civil rights activists:
“GPS directed me to an address and we turned into the driveway… I put my car in drive… just about to move a little, we hear a shot, I hear little pricks hitting the car. I didn’t know where it was coming from. So… I grab my gun, I looked left to right and my son was like, ‘Mama, no. Just go.’ So, I left.”
Trimble was able to deliver her package safely.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded the following day, arresting Pittman at his home and seizing the shotgun he allegedly used. Officials said they are also investigating unverified social media posts in which Pittman reportedly made racist comments after the incident.
Pittman was booked into Richmond County Jail and posted $200,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 8, 2026.
