Man Dies After Breaking Into Sacramento Building, Falling from Sixth-Floor Balcony

A man died early Sunday morning after falling from a sixth-story balcony of a Sacramento business complex, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

Fire crews responded around 2:30 a.m. to a fire alarm at 1750 Howe Avenue. Upon arrival, they spotted a man on the sixth-floor balcony who had broken into the building.

As sheriff’s deputies arrived, the man reportedly climbed over the railing and fell. Emergency responders provided aid, but he later died at the hospital.

Investigators say the man caused approximately $100,000 in damage, triggered a fire alarm, and broke into the sixth floor before the fall. Authorities say he did not appear to be attempting theft and had no prior criminal record.

The sheriff’s homicide unit investigated and found no signs of foul play. The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
