Deputies from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint about a vehicle on Mount Zion Road on December 7.
The complaint included a description of the car they were trying to find.
Deputies discovered a man in a maroon Buick Verano that was trapped in a ditch on Old Richmond Road.
The driver, James Russell Scheiderer, 41, of Cincinnati, Ohio, had glossy, bloodshot eyes, and deputies smelled alcohol on him.
The investigation determined that Scheiderer was under the influence.
He was detained and charged with driving under the influence (first offense).
He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for a complaint filed in Laurel District Court accusing him of first-degree criminal mischief.
He was sent to the Laurel County Correctional Center.
