A man was arrested in Los Angeles County for allegedly assaulting and killing his elderly father in south Bakersfield on Monday evening. Authorities said the victim was found dead outside a home.
The Bakersfield Police Department reported that on October 13, 2025, around 6:27 p.m., officers responded to the 6100 block of Chandler Way after a man was found unresponsive on the ground.
Medical personnel declared the elderly man deceased at the scene. Police determined that he had been physically assaulted, prompting a homicide investigation.
Homicide investigators from the Bakersfield Police Department took over the case. Following their investigation, the victim’s son, 49-year-old Alfred Juarez of Bakersfield, was arrested without incident in Los Angeles County with assistance from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Juarez was transported to Kern County Jail and booked on charges including murder, elder abuse, robbery, and related offenses.
