Man Apprehended After Stealing Running Car At Waldorf Gas Station

On September 22, at approximately 11:55 p.m., officers responded to a gas station in the 11500 block of Berry Road in Waldorf for a report of a stolen car. The victim said that he left his car running at a gas pump while he walked inside to pay. When he returned, his car was gone.

Officers were given a vehicle description and found the stolen vehicle about thirty minutes later in the parking lot of a company on the 2000 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf. Officers attempted to halt the car, but the driver fled and proceeded to try to evade them.

The driver eventually came to a stop on Jefferson Farm Road and was detained without further incident. Officers also apprehended two bulldogs that the suspect had with him. Kingsley Ikechukewu Okafor, 30, of Lanham, was arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft, DUI, fleeing and eluding, and other traffic and criminal charges. Officer Butler is investigating.
