Man Accused Of Joining Group That Attacked And Robbed Three Red Line Riders

A Roseland man has been charged with involvement in a series of violent robberies targeting Red Line passengers earlier this year.

According to Chicago police, Vaughn Jackson, 22, was one of many people who attacked and robbed a 45-year-old man aboard a train at Garfield around 5:15 p.m. on January 5.

A short time later, Jackson is accused of assaulting and robbing a 19-year-old lady and a 20-year-old man on a train around 35th Street. Police report that during the attack, they battered another 19-year-old woman but did not rob her.

On January 9, detectives released surveillance images of the suspects and asked the public for help identifying them. Prosecutors charged a 17-year-old girl in March with the Garfield robbery.

Jackson is now facing three counts of robbery, three counts of aggravated battery of a transit passenger, and one case of aggravated battery resulting in grave bodily harm.

On Thursday afternoon, he is expected to appear in the Leighton Criminal Courthouse for a detention hearing.
