Man accused of firing gunshots at ABC station in Sacramento could face federal charges, FBI says

A man arrested for allegedly firing gunshots at the  ABC station in Sacramento is expected to appear in federal court Monday.

Police said the 64-year-old suspect was first taken into custody at his Sacramento home early Saturday morning and released after posting bail. Hours later, the FBI arrested him for allegedly violating a federal statute related to interference with federally licensed radio communications.

Neighbors expressed surprise at the arrest. Emily Alves, a neighbor, said: “He was a nice guy. But then after hearing all this, we were just like, ‘What? What happened?’”

Authorities said at least three bullets struck the lobby window of the news station Friday afternoon. Although people were inside, no injuries were reported.

The suspect’s motive remains under investigation.
