Candace Taylor, a Louisiana business owner, has been arrested after allegedly defrauding Medicaid of $9.5 million — and investigators say her lavish lifestyle on social media helped uncover the scheme.
According to Fox 8 News New Orleans, Taylor operated a home health care business and claimed to earn just $2,000 per month between 2020 and 2024. That reported income qualified her for government assistance programs, including Medicaid.
But her online presence painted a very different picture. Investigators say Taylor regularly posted photos of luxury cars, designer clothing, exotic vacations, and even cosmetic procedures, raising red flags about her true financial status.
The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation revealed that Taylor allegedly submitted false documents and concealed her actual income to continue receiving benefits she was not entitled to. She now faces felony charges including fraud, income misrepresentation, and concealment of earnings.
Authorities credit social media with playing a key role in exposing the years-long fraud.
