Los Angeles Police Department officers shot and killed a 35-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his 61-year-old father to death inside a home in the San Fernando Valley.
Authorities responded to the 17200 block of Valerio Street in Lake Balboa around 8 a.m. after reports of a man experiencing a mental health-related episode. Upon arrival, officers witnessed the suspect assaulting his father. At that point, at least one officer fired, resulting in the suspect’s death. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police indicated the suspect may have had a history of attacking family members. A pair of scissors was recovered from the home and taken as evidence. The identities of the father and son have not yet been released, and no further details about the incident have been provided.
