Lake County Man Gets 15 Years Prison Sentence For Trafficking Narcotics

A Eustis man was sentenced to 15 years in jail this week for trafficking fentanyl-in-heroin in 2023.

Emmanuel Cazeau, 41, was sentenced to 15 years in the Florida Department of Corrections last week by Judge James Baxley. He was convicted earlier this year of trafficking fentanyl and heroin and possessing methamphetamine.

In June 2023, Cazeau was driving a silver Chevrolet SUV when he failed to stop completely at an intersection. Sgt. Robertson of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office performed a traffic stop.

The driver, later identified as Cazeau by his driver’s license, was advised of the reason for the stop. As Sgt. Robertson began issuing a traffic infringement warning, K-9 Handler Semento and his K-9 partner Jim performed an open-air sniff of the vehicle’s exterior. K-9 Jim detected the presence of narcotics.

When authorities removed Cazeau and another passenger, they discovered a baggie of purple material on the floorboard of the driver’s side. The substance field tested positive for illicit substances and weighed around 13 grams. Cazeau was eventually apprehended.

The evidence was gathered and then forwarded to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for additional investigation. The FDLE’s investigation determined that the substance was a combination of methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl.

Dustan Geurin and Christopher Small, assistant state attorneys, successfully prosecuted this case.

Cazeau had previously been arrested for a narcotics-related offense in November 2019, when he was found with a gallon-sized bag of crystal meth.
