La Marque Man Gets 50 Years for Aggravated Kidnapping

LA MARQUE – A Galveston County jury has sentenced Edmond Wayne Porter, 54, to 50 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon.

Prosecutors said a woman was on the phone in a La Marque Sam’s Club parking lot on Sept. 20, 2024, when Porter approached her with a gun and ordered her into her car. He forced her to drive to her League City home, but she escaped to a neighbor’s house and called for help.

Security video from multiple locations was shown to jurors. Porter’s criminal history includes prior felony convictions for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, robbery, and aggravated assault.

He also faces separate charges of sexually assaulting a child in 2024. Prosecutors said the girl testified that Porter lured her to his home from a park, gave her alcohol, and assaulted her. A warrant for that charge had been outstanding for five months before his arrest in the kidnapping case.
