Innocent Woman Killed in Glendale Road Rage Shooting

A young mother was fatally shot in what police describe as a road rage incident gone wrong, leaving her family shattered and her 4-year-old son without his mother.

Yarely Ashley Hermosillo, 27, was riding in the passenger seat of her boyfriend’s car late Saturday night as they went to pick up her mother from work. Her son was also in the vehicle.

Around 11:45 p.m., as the car stopped at a red light at W. Camelback Road and N. 51st Avenue, a gunshot blasted through the windshield, striking Hermosillo in the face. Her boyfriend rushed her to a nearby hospital, but she did not survive.

Suspect identified

Police say the shooter, Jesus Preciado Dousten, 33, had moments earlier been arguing with another driver in a separate lane.

According to a probable cause affidavit:

  • The other driver honked after Dousten’s pickup cut him off.

  • At the stoplight, the driver yelled for Dousten to watch where he was going.

  • Dousten allegedly pulled out a gun, shouted “you want some of this” in Spanish, and fired a round in a random direction out of his driver’s side window.

That bullet struck Hermosillo — an uninvolved bystander sitting in the next lane.

Witnesses also told police that Dousten appeared intoxicated.

Arrest and evidence

Investigators used street cameras to identify Dousten’s truck and arrested him the next day. Officers later recovered the alleged murder weapon from a friend’s home, where Dousten had admitted he fired a shot during a road rage encounter that ended up hitting someone else.

He is now charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, and other counts. Police noted that Dousten had been involved in another road rage altercation two months earlier, where he allegedly punched a driver in the face.

“We really wanted to bring this family justice and we were so pleased we were able to get this guy off the street,” said Glendale police spokesman Jose Santiago.

Remembering Yarely Hermosillo

Hermosillo was a focused TikTok creator with nearly 100,000 followers on her recipe and food-focused page. Her family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help with funeral expenses.

The page describes her as:

“A loving wife, a devoted mother, and a beautiful soul whose light touched everyone who knew her. She leaves behind her husband and their 4-year-old son, who now face an unimaginable loss.”

Her greatest joy, family members said, was being a mother and caring for her little boy.
