A California man, Howard Wang, 43, has been accused of murdering his wife, Linlin Guo, and mother-in-law, Beimin Cheng, and allegedly getting his mistress to destroy evidence of the crime.
Wang faces charges including two counts of murder with special circumstances enhancements, dissuading a witness, and making criminal threats involving his late wife, according to the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office.
Guo and Cheng were found dead with their throats slit inside the family’s Walnut Creek home in September. Howard and Linlin’s 8-year-old twin daughters were home during the murders.
Authorities say Wang told police that an intruder killed his wife and mother-in-law, claiming he fired at the suspect during the alleged attack. Wang was booked into custody about a week later.
The DA’s office also arrested Yan Wang, Howard’s alleged mistress, who is not related to him. She is charged with destroying evidence, being an accessory after the fact, and first-degree residential burglary.
Yan allegedly entered Howard’s home after the murders with the intent to commit larceny and destroy cellphones to hide evidence. The DA’s office stated she acted to help Howard avoid arrest, trial, conviction, and punishment.
Authorities also reported that Yan got into a physical altercation with a member of the victims’ family, requiring deputies to intervene.
