Hit-and-Run in Los Angeles Leaves Pedestrian Dead; LAPD Seeks Witnesses and Information

A deadly hit-and-run has claimed the life of a pedestrian in Los Angeles, according to the  LAPD’s  South Traffic Division.

On the evening of September 12, 2025, a silver Toyota Corolla struck a pedestrian outside a marked crosswalk on Figueroa Street, police said. After the initial collision, the driver stopped to help, but a blue vehicle hit the already injured pedestrian a second time before fleeing without stopping.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital, but despite emergency efforts, was later pronounced dead.

Detective III Moreno, who is leading the investigation, urged anyone with knowledge of the crash or the blue vehicle to come forward.

The LAPD and city officials emphasized the importance of community assistance, highlighting the Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund, created in 2015, which offers up to $50,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

The department reminded drivers:

“If they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective III Moreno at (213) 458-3472 during business hours. Outside of those hours, individuals can reach the South Traffic Division’s Watch Commander at 1-877-LAPD-24-7, or submit anonymous tips through L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers or the “P3 Tips” mobile app.
