High-speed Pasco County Pursuit Ends In Lakeland Rollover Collision

A high-speed pursuit of an attempted homicide suspect started in Pasco County and ended in a multi-vehicle rollover incident this afternoon, resulting in the entire shutdown of a key north Lakeland intersection by police.

At 2:27 p.m., a suspect vehicle being pursued by Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) officers collided with two other vehicles at the intersection of US 98 North and Duff Road.

Officials stated that the chase began near Zephyrhills when deputies saw and pursued a car linked to someone sought for attempted homicide. The suspect’s identification has not yet been disclosed.

The crash site, located just north of Lakeland, was secured by PCSO for further investigation. “The intersection is completely closed down at this time for the investigation,” a PCSO representative said earlier Friday. Motorists were asked to take alternate routes while authorities processed the incident and cleared the wreckage.

While information about the probable injuries to the drivers of the other two vehicles was not immediately available, the suspect was captured at the scene of the incident.
