A Gainesville, Georgia man faces multiple charges, including eight counts of vehicular homicide and one count of feticide, after a devastating semi-truck crash on Monday, Oct. 13, killed eight members of the same family—five of them children.
Kane Aaron Hammock, 33, was arrested following the multi-vehicle collision on I-85 in Commerce, about 70 miles northeast of Atlanta.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, Hammock was driving a semi-trailer too closely behind a Dodge Caravan when he slammed into it from behind. The impact triggered a massive chain-reaction crash involving four other vehicles.

The collision was catastrophic. All eight people inside the Dodge Caravan—three adults and five children—died instantly. Authorities believe one of the adults may have been pregnant, leading to the feticide charge. While officials have not publicly released the victims’ names, family members identified them to local media outlets.
Adding to the tragedy, the Georgia Department of Public Safety revealed that Hammock was driving with a suspended license at the time of the crash.
