Galveston County deputies detain five in multi-state industrial theft case

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) announced Wednesday that five people were detained following a months-long investigation into a massive industrial theft ring operating in Texas and Ohio.

According to GCSO officials, the investigation began in August 2025, when 41-year-old Michael Patrick was arrested during a traffic stop. He was allegedly discovered with marijuana and a big quantity of suspected stolen industrial parts and products.

A search warrant was executed shortly after at a home on Bayou Road in La Marque, which allegedly yielded additional evidence, including a significant stockpile of industrial equipment, marijuana, THC wax, and multiple guns.

As investigators investigated further, they discovered that much of the equipment had reportedly been stolen from industrial locations in Texas and Ohio. The investigation eventually led to the identification of several more alleged defendants involved in the organized theft operation.

Today, deputies said these suspects were hauled into custody on counts of engaging in organized criminal activity:

  • Michael Ryan Patrick, 41 — No Bond
  • Antonio Garza, 45 — $1,000,000 bond
  • Ruth Patrick, 35 — $100,000 bond
  • Herve Yemey, 33 — $100,000 bond
  • Brad Edward Goldsberry, 40 — $1,000,000 bond

The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit praised the Crime Scene Unit for their substantial assistance with the search warrant and evidence processing. They also commended the Fugitive Apprehension Division and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office in Lima, Ohio, with assisting in the safe location and apprehension of the suspects.

Detectives stated that the investigation is ongoing.
