A former Tucson high school teacher has been sentenced to over seven years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.
James Badger, a former teacher, was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison and two decades on probation for two charges of child exploitation against a kid under 15. The sentencing occurred in Pima County Superior Court, presided over by Judge Casey McGinley.
Before learning his destiny, Badger spoke for more than ten minutes about his considerable reading in prison, self-esteem difficulties, and teaching experience.
Judge Casey McGinley of Pima County Superior Court addressed Badger before imposing the punishment.
“Part of it is about you working on what it is that caused you to be in this position, why it is you felt the need to be looking at things like this,” according to Judge McGinley. “How did you get this stuff, and how did it end up in your hands after you deleted it?” Whatever the situation was.
Badger is scheduled to serve 7.5 years in prison, but he will be credited for the 335 days he has already spent. If he violates his 20-year probation, he might face further prison time.
If Badger breaks his probation and it is revoked, he faces an extra 7.5 to 15 years in prison.
