A Florida mother has been arrested after police say she used her car to drag a woman down the street during a late-night altercation in September—an incident investigators say escalated on her daughter’s orders.
Crystal Collins, 43, was taken into custody Wednesday in connection with the September 13 incident on NW 37th Avenue. According to investigators, the confrontation began around 3 a.m., when the victim got into a heated argument with Collins’ daughter, who was inside a Nissan Altima.
Police reports state that the dispute intensified when Collins’ daughter grabbed the woman by her shirt through the car window and told her mother, “Drag this h—.” Collins allegedly hit the accelerator, pulling the victim several yards until she freed herself near a stop sign. She was later taken to the hospital by ambulance and treated for road rash.
When questioned by detectives, Collins told a different story. She claimed the victim had approached aggressively after a wake and punched her daughter through the car window. Hoping to support her claim, Collins voluntarily provided cellphone video of the confrontation—but investigators say the footage matched the victim’s version of events instead.
Collins was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on two counts of battery. She has since been released under pretrial supervision and is barred from contacting the victim. Her next court appearance is scheduled for January 20, 2026.
