A Florida man has been convicted of bigamy after marrying three women at the same time. According to Local 12 WKRC-TV, the victims believe 50-year-old Henry Betsey Jr. pursued them for their money.
One of Betsey’s wives reported him to authorities after discovering his actions, WFTS reported. He later turned himself in on October 23, 2024.
Betsey met his first wife, Tonya, through the Tinder dating app, and they married in November 2022.
“The way he portrayed himself, he sold the perfect person, when in reality he was none of those things,” Tonya told the media.
He met his second wife, Brandy Allen, on another dating app. They married in February 2022 at a courthouse.
“He said all the right things,” Brandy recalled. “We got married right there at the courthouse, no questions asked. There was nothing that was flagged in the system for him having already two prior open marriage licenses.”
Brandy added that on their wedding day, Betsey immediately pushed to combine finances.
“The day we got married, he said, ‘We need to make your bank account a joint bank account,’” she said.
Betsey’s third marriage was to Michele Narens, whom he also met online. They wed in November 2022. His scheme unraveled when Tonya learned about Michele and contacted her.
“I had no idea that she was still married to him,” Tonya said.
The three women later agreed that Betsey’s intentions were financial, not romantic.
Betsey pleaded no contest to a bigamy charge and was sentenced to two years of probation. He is also working to annul all three marriages.
