Florida Child Stabs Grandmother to Save Mother During Home Attack

An 8-year-old Florida girl stepped in to protect her mother during a violent home invasion, stabbing her grandmother to stop the assault, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 3 p.m. Monday to a disturbance at a home on Reese Avenue in the Oakleaf area. Dispatchers could hear the victim yelling for someone to leave as the call came in.

Investigators say the victim’s estranged biological mother, 62-year-old Serpil Adams, entered the home without permission through an unlocked door and then attacked her daughter with a serrated knife.

During the struggle, the daughter’s 8-year-old child intervened. The girl reportedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Adams in the upper arm, bringing the attack to an end.

Adams fled the scene afterward, driving to a friend’s home in Jacksonville. She was later located and arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities confirmed that the victim and her children were not injured.

Adams is now facing a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
