Drugs And Loaded Gun Seized During East Bay Traffic Stop

A convicted felon was discovered with a handgun and various drugs during a traffic stop near the intersection of 18th Street and Chanslor Avenue in Richmond earlier this week, according to the Richmond Police Department.

According to the Richmond Police Department, the driver allegedly admitted to carrying ammo but claimed there was no gun in the car. A check of the automobile allegedly turned up a loaded firearm and a stockpile of drugs packaged for sale, including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, MDMA, and marijuana.

“This proactive action means fewer drugs and one less gun on our streets, making our community a safer place,” Richmond PD said.“To everyone’s surprise (not really), a search revealed a loaded firearm hidden away,” Richmond PD wrote on social media. “But that wasn’t all — officers also discovered an alarming stash of drugs.”

The driver was detained on drug and weapons allegations.

“This proactive action means fewer drugs and one less gun on our streets, making our community a safer place,” Richmond PD said.
