Desoto Police Detain Suspect After High-speed Pursuit In Stolen Vehicle

A high-speed pursuit early Friday morning resulted in the arrest of a Dallas man driving a stolen vehicle, according to the DeSoto Police Department. Officers arrested 30-year-old Luis Arquimidez Vidaurri after he abandoned his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

The incident began around 2:35 a.m. when DeSoto Police discovered a maroon 2002 Toyota van reported stolen from Lancaster, Texas, in the 1000 block of North IH-35. Vidaurri, the sole occupant, drove eastbound in the westbound lanes of E. Pleasant Run Road before continuing north on the freeway into Dallas. The pursuit concluded at an apartment complex on Willoughby Blvd, where Vidaurri was apprehended following a brief foot chase.

Vidaurri is charged with evading in a vehicle, a third-degree felony, and operating a stolen vehicle, a state jail crime. In addition, he had an outstanding felony warrant in Dallas County for possession of a controlled substance. There were no injuries reported during the event, and DeSoto police praised their Charlie Shift officers for their quick response. The DeSoto Police Department reports that Vidaurri has a lengthy criminal record involving vehicle burglaries.
