Dallas Police Seize 14 Firearms, $8000 Cash, And Large Drug Stash; 2 Gang Members Detained

On August 4, 2025, Dallas police responded to a shooting call in the 4500 block of Hamilton Avenue, arresting a gang member suspect for aggravated assault as part of a coordinated operation.

Search warrant executed

The inquiry was led by gang detectives from the Dallas police, who performed a comprehensive investigation and identified Derek Betts, 30, as a suspect.

Search warrants were issued for other sites related to the inquiry. A search warrant was executed in the 4500 block of Metropolitan Avenue on September 9, 2025, with the assistance of the Dallas Police Department’s SWAT and Narcotics units.

The search warrant resulted in the seizure of multiple firearms, a considerable amount of controlled drugs, and US currency.

  • 14 firearms
  • Approximately 12.7 kilograms of marijuana
  • 7 pounds of Ecstacy/MDMA
  • Approximately 90 oz of Promethazine
  • $8,469.00 in U.S. currency

Betts was apprehended and charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, which are second- and third-degree felonies.

Terrell Lockridge, 29, was also detained on an outstanding probation violation warrant for unlawful possession of a handgun by a felon.

Dallas police said the two arrested are documented gang members.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas will prosecute this matter on a federal level.
