A Corona man is in custody after Riverside County deputies said he attempted to kidnap two girls on Tuesday.
Deputies responded to the 25000 block of Santiago Canyon Road around 4:15 p.m. after receiving a report of a kidnapping attempt, according to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies arrived, they learned that an unknown man had grabbed a 12-year-old girl by the arm and tried to pull her into his vehicle. The girl managed to escape and ran to a nearby adult for help.
Investigators obtained both a suspect description and a description of the vehicle, which helped them locate the man shortly after. Deputies identified the suspect as 61-year-old Delory Sinclair of Corona and arrested him near the 11000 block of De Palma Road in the unincorporated Temescal Valley area.
During the investigation, deputies discovered that Sinclair had allegedly tried to kidnap a second victim, a 14-year-old girl, shortly before his arrest. Neither girl was injured.
Deputies served a search warrant on Sinclair’s home in the unincorporated community of Horsethief Canyon and on his vehicle. According to the release, they found evidence connected to the kidnappings, additional potential crimes, and a large quantity of illegal narcotics.
Sinclair was booked on charges of kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, annoying or molesting a minor, and possession of illegal narcotics.
Anyone with additional information or who believes they may also be a victim is urged to contact Riverside County Sheriff’s Office investigators at (951) 272-5600.
