A Coleman man was detained after being stopped at 7-Eleven with a suspended license and an expired registration.
An officer saw 32-year-old Lestettis Requal Caruthers driving a black Kia Soul southbound on U.S. 301 around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. A check of the tag indicated that the registration had expired on September 21.

The officer saw this and stopped the vehicle in the 7-Eleven parking lot at 4076 E CR 462. He then asked Requal Caruthers for his driver’s license, but he responded he didn’t have one because he had never been awarded one, according to the report.
A search of his criminal history revealed that he had merely been issued an ID card. He also had a prior conviction for driving while his license was suspended on April 29, 2022, and three failures to appear, according to the report.
Requal Caruthers was later arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license (second or subsequent offense). He was taken to the Sumter County Detention Center and bond was set at $500.
