Relief from the heat may finally be on the way, with a cold front anticipated to deliver cooler, more bearable temperatures by the weekend.
But first, we need to get through a couple more unpredictable and potentially hazardous days of weather.
Monday
Expect a rainy and potentially hazardous start to the week. Fast-moving storms from the Atlantic are likely throughout the day, with the possibility of heavy rain and localized floods, particularly where showers congregate over the same area.
Today’s rainfall chances are high (around 60–70%), with some areas receiving up to 1-2 inches of rain.
A flood watch remains in effect for coastal regions until Monday evening.
In addition to the rain, hazardous beach and sea conditions will persist all week. Life-threatening rip currents, heavy surf with waves up to 5–6 feet, and minor to major beach erosion are all possible, particularly during high tides.
Minor coastal flooding may affect low-lying roads, docks, and yards along the beach and intracoastal waterways.
Tuesday & Wednesday
Starting Tuesday, rain chances will decrease slightly as drier air moves in, with highs near normal in the upper 80s.
Weekend
A cold front is expected to pass through the area this weekend, bringing lower temperatures and a hint of fall.
As the front approaches, rain chances will rise to 50-60% on Friday. Once the front cleats are on, highs will fall into the low to mid-80s, with lows plunging into the 60s by Sunday.
